"Tosca" is a drama of events in which the long speeches are all narration and relate the events that are happening simultaneously. From these speeches you can understand the story of every single character: Mario Cavaradossi, Cesare Angelotti, Baron Vitellio Scarpia and Floria Tosca. She was once a guardian of goats in the hills near Verona, and when she was welcomed by the Benedictine nuns, Cimarosa, visiting the convent, had heard her voice and made her study singing. The fame has not affected in any way the peasant origins of Tosca. The only defect that Cavaradossi reproaches Tosca is an unbridled jealousy.
